Renault India has officially launched the Duster Hybrid, its most ambitious project to date, with prices starting at ₹16.99 lakh (ex-showroom). This new hybrid SUV aims to compete with established rivals such as the Toyota Hyryder and Maruti Suzuki's Victoris and Grand Vitara. The Duster Hybrid is positioned to attract consumers looking for a blend of performance and efficiency in the growing hybrid segment.
The pricing strategy is a key aspect of the Duster Hybrid's appeal. With an introductory price of ₹16.99 lakh for the base model and going up to ₹19.49 lakh for the Emotion trim, the Duster Hybrid is competitively priced. It offers a more affordable option compared to its rivals in the lower trims while undercutting Japanese competitors in higher trims, making it an attractive choice for potential buyers.
In terms of specifications, the Duster Hybrid boasts a 1.4 kWh hybrid battery, significantly larger than those found in its competitors, and a robust 1.8L four-cylinder engine. This combination allows the vehicle to achieve a claimed 0-100 km/h acceleration in under 10 seconds, with a peak power output of 158 bhp and torque of 208 Nm from the electric motor. Additionally, Renault claims an impressive mileage of 29 km/l, surpassing its rivals despite its higher performance metrics.
The Duster Hybrid also stands out with its extensive feature set. It includes a built-in Google infotainment system, wireless charging, and a 10.25-inch TFT display that supports full-screen navigation maps. While some features are trimmed to keep the price under ₹20 lakh, the Duster Hybrid still offers dual-zone climate control, automatic rain-sensing wipers, and electric power-adjustable seats for both the driver and co-driver, which is a rarity among its competitors.
Looking ahead, Renault aims to capitalize on the growing hybrid market in India with the Duster Hybrid. The company is expected to monitor customer feedback closely and may introduce additional features or variants based on market demand. With the launch of the Duster Hybrid, Renault is poised to make a significant impact in the hybrid SUV segment, challenging established players and appealing to a new generation of environmentally conscious consumers.
