Renault has officially launched the Duster E-Tech 160 hybrid in India, expanding its SUV lineup with a strong hybrid option. Priced starting at ₹16.99 lakh, the Duster Hybrid aims to attract buyers seeking enhanced fuel efficiency and performance. With an ARAI-certified mileage of 29 km/l, it competes against strong hybrids from Maruti Suzuki and Toyota, positioning itself as a viable alternative in the market.

The Duster Hybrid is available in three variants: Evolution, Techno, and Emotion. The Evolution variant is priced at ₹16.99 lakh, while the Techno and Emotion trims are priced at ₹18.99 lakh and ₹19.49 lakh, respectively. This launch marks the introduction of Renault's E-Tech technology in India, aligning with its futuREady roadmap. Bookings commenced on October 9, with an initial deposit of ₹21,000 through Renault's official website and authorized dealerships.

One of the standout features of the Duster Hybrid is its impressive fuel efficiency. The vehicle's ARAI-certified figure of 29 km/l exceeds the 27.97 km/l of the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara and the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, as well as the Victoris hybrid's 28.65 km/l. This efficiency translates to a maximum range of approximately 1,400 km on a full tank, with the hybrid system capable of operating in electric mode for up to 80% of city driving, thanks to its 1.4 kWh battery pack.

The Duster E-Tech 160 combines a 1.8-litre Atkinson Cycle petrol engine with two electric motors and a multi-mode automatic transmission, delivering a total output of 160 PS. This hybrid system allows the SUV to switch seamlessly between electric and petrol power, optimizing performance based on driving conditions. The vehicle's design includes enhancements such as an illuminated grille and improved interior themes, ensuring a modern and appealing look.

As Renault aims to broaden the Duster's appeal with this hybrid variant, the timing is crucial, given the recent sales figures. In September 2026, Duster sales reached 465 units, a slight increase from 402 units in August. The introduction of the hybrid model is expected to attract a wider customer base, providing a compelling option for those prioritizing efficiency without sacrificing performance. Looking ahead, Renault's focus will be on promoting this hybrid model as a key player in the competitive SUV market.
