In a remarkable financial performance, Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) announced a record net profit of ₹29,550 crore for the second quarter of FY27, reflecting a 33.8% increase compared to the same period last year. The company's consolidated revenue also saw a significant rise of 27.8%, reaching ₹3.62 lakh crore. This achievement marks the first time RIL's profit for the first half of the fiscal year exceeded ₹50,000 crore, driven by robust earnings from its oil-to-chemicals (O2C) segment and continued growth in digital services despite a challenging global economic landscape.
Jio Platforms, a subsidiary of RIL, reported a net profit of ₹8,389 crore for the second quarter, representing a 13.7% increase from ₹7,379 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous year. The company's gross revenue for the quarter was ₹47,485 crore, up 11.3% year-on-year. Operating revenue also showed strong growth, increasing 11.4% to ₹40,475 crore, indicating a solid performance in the competitive telecommunications market.
Indian Oil Corporation (IOC), the state-owned oil giant, reported its highest-ever standalone net profit of ₹21,630 crore for Q2, a significant turnaround from a loss of ₹2,661 crore in the previous quarter. This improvement was primarily attributed to enhanced refining margins, which offset losses from petrol and diesel sales. Despite a 4.6% decline in revenue from operations, IOC's EBITDA surged to ₹30,297 crore, showcasing its resilience in the face of market challenges.
Other notable performances included Max Healthcare Institute, which reported a 20% increase in gross revenue to ₹3,219 crore, and SJVN, which saw its net profit rise to ₹657.4 crore, up from ₹308 crore year-on-year. These results highlight a trend of recovery and growth among major companies in various sectors, reflecting a broader economic rebound.
Looking ahead, investors will be keenly watching the upcoming quarterly results from other major firms, as the financial landscape continues to evolve. The performance of these companies may influence market trends and investor sentiment in the coming months, particularly as global economic conditions remain uncertain.
