Nifty Surpasses 22,650: Analysts Predict Market Direction Ahead
On October 6, Nifty trades above 22,650, raising questions about whether it will reach 23,000 or drop to 22,000.
Nifty is currently above 22,650, driven by gains in private banks and metals.
Analysts suggest that a breach below 22,182 could lead to further declines.
Immediate support is at 22,400-22,450, with resistance at 22,700-22,750.
On October 6, the Nifty benchmark index has decisively crossed the 22,650 mark, buoyed by significant buying activity in sectors such as private banking, metals, and pharmaceuticals. This upward movement has led to speculation about whether the index will continue its ascent towards 23,000 or if it will revisit the lows seen earlier in October.
Analysts have provided insights into the market's potential trajectory. Pabitro Mukherjee, Deputy Vice President of Research at Bajaj Broking, indicated that maintaining strength above the recent high of 22,621 could pave the way for further gains towards 22,750 and 23,000. Conversely, a drop below the April 2026 low of 22,182 would signal a possible decline towards 22,000 and even lower levels.
The market's near-term outlook remains cautiously optimistic, according to Hitesh Tailor, a Technical Research Analyst at Choice Broking. He noted that while there are positive signs from global cues, the broader market sentiment remains tentative following recent declines. Immediate support levels are identified at 22,400-22,450, while resistance is expected between 22,700-22,750.
Devarsh Vakil, Head of Prime Research at HDFC Securities, highlighted that short-term indicators are showing oversold conditions, which may lead to a technical rebound. He emphasized that a decisive breakout above 22,655 and 22,810 is crucial for a meaningful recovery. If the index falls below the swing low of 22,397, it could lead to further declines towards 22,200.
Looking ahead, Shrikant Chouhan from Kotak Securities pointed out that the market's ability to hold above 22,400 is vital for sustaining any upward momentum. A sustained move above 22,850 could improve the market's near-term outlook and potentially lead to 23,000. However, a break below 22,450 may reignite selling pressure and push the index back towards the 22,250-22,200 range.
