On September 28, Indian stock markets experienced a notable sell-off, with the Nifty index slipping below the 23,000 mark. This decline was accompanied by a drop in major stocks, including Vodafone Idea, Adani Ports, and Bank of India, while Aequs stood out with a significant rally.

The benchmark indices faced a sharp downturn, with the Nifty trading at approximately 22,900 and the Sensex around 73,000. The market's decline was attributed to a mix of global and domestic factors, including rising US bond yields, ongoing conflicts in West Asia, and a depreciating Indian Rupee, which collectively dampened investor sentiment.

Vodafone Idea's share price fell by 4.4%, reaching a low of Rs 13.63 on the NSE. This decline followed the introduction of new Telecom regulations aimed at simplifying consumer recharges from 13 to 12 annually. In contrast, Aequs's stock surged by 11.35% to a high of Rs 274, driven by a Rs 650 crore investment through a preferential issue of warrants, although it later settled at Rs 257.54.

Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone saw its stock price drop by 2.7%, trading at Rs 1,739.10. Despite this recent decline, the stock has shown a 4.8% gain over the past month and a remarkable 24% increase over the last year, reflecting a 134% rise in investor wealth over the past five years.

The National Stock Exchange (NSE) also faced challenges, with its stock price falling 1.7% to Rs 1,761, marking the first time it traded below its issue price of Rs 1,785 since its listing. The NSE was listed on September 24, 2023, with a public issue that garnered strong demand across various investor categories. Additionally, Bank of India shares dropped 4.66% to Rs 131.50, becoming the largest loser among PSU banks amid concerns of heavy foreign institutional investor selling and technical corrections across the banking sector.
