The Nifty 50 index rebounded significantly, closing above previous highs, with crucial support and resistance levels identified for traders.
Nifty 50 closed 1.6% higher on October 13, forming a bullish engulfing pattern.
Key support at 22,200 and resistance at 22,800–22,900 for Nifty.
Bank Nifty also showed positive momentum, closing above 55,200.
On October 13, the Nifty 50 index experienced a notable recovery, climbing 1.6% and closing above the previous day's high. This surge was primarily driven by the performance of IT stocks, which helped the index form a bullish engulfing candlestick pattern on the daily chart. Following a decline to an 18-month low on October 8, the Nifty has managed to hold above the critical support level of 22,200, which traders will be watching closely in the coming sessions.
The Nifty's recent performance indicates a potential shift in market sentiment, as it has successfully defended the 22,200 level. Experts suggest that for the index to maintain its upward momentum, it must decisively break through the immediate resistance zone of 22,800 to 22,900. If this level is surpassed, it could pave the way for an extension of the uptrend beyond the 23,000 mark. Meanwhile, the Bank Nifty also showed resilience, rebounding after a day of selling pressure and closing above the 55,200 resistance level.
Key technical indicators for the Nifty 50 reveal a gradual easing of bearish momentum, with the Relative Strength Index (RSI) rising to 43.43 and the MACD showing a bullish crossover. Despite these positive signals, the index remains below its key moving averages, indicating that a broader bullish trend has yet to be established. For the Bank Nifty, the RSI increased to 48.22, suggesting improving bullish momentum, although sustained strength above key resistance levels is necessary for confirmation of recovery.
In terms of options data, the 23,000 strike holds the maximum Call open interest, indicating it may act as a significant resistance level for the Nifty in the short term. Conversely, the maximum Put open interest is observed at the 22,500 strike, which could serve as a crucial support level. The Put-Call ratio (PCR) rose to 1.16, reflecting a bullish sentiment in the market, as traders are currently selling more Put options than Call options.
Looking ahead, market participants will closely monitor the Nifty's ability to break through the identified resistance levels and maintain support at 22,200. The upcoming trading sessions will be critical in determining whether the recent bullish momentum can be sustained and if the indices can continue their upward trajectory.
