As the Nifty 50 closes lower on October 27, traders eye key resistance and support levels for upcoming trades.
Nifty 50 closed at 22,750, facing immediate resistance at 22,813.

India VIX indicates continued market uncertainty, closing at 16.4.
On October 27, the Nifty 50 index experienced a slight decline, closing at 22,750 amid a day of consolidation coinciding with the monthly F&O expiry. The index attempted to breach the 20-day exponential moving average (EMA) but could not maintain its position above this critical threshold. Analysts suggest that the 20-day EMA will serve as immediate resistance, with further hurdles at the 23,000–23,200 range. Conversely, immediate support is identified within the 22,500–22,600 bracket. Unless the index decisively surpasses 23,200, a continuation of range-bound trading is anticipated.
In the context of broader market dynamics, the Nifty 50 formed a small bullish candle, indicating indecision among investors amidst increased volatility. The index remains below its 20-, 50-, 100-, and 200-day EMAs, reflecting a generally weak trend. The Relative Strength Index (RSI) has shown a slight uptick to 46, while the Moving Average Convergence Divergence (MACD) remains in an upward trajectory, albeit with a contracting histogram that suggests a slowdown in bullish momentum.
For the Bank Nifty, which closed down by 0.72%, key resistance levels are established at 54,462, 54,628, and 54,896, while support is seen at 53,925. The index's recent price action indicates renewed weakness, as it trades below all significant moving averages, signaling a sustained bearish trend. The RSI for the Bank Nifty stands at 35.66, indicating a bearish crossover, and the MACD also reflects a negative trend, suggesting potential further downside in the near term.
Options data reveals that the maximum Call open interest for the Nifty is at the 23,000 strike, indicating a significant resistance level. Additionally, the 22,700 strike has the highest Put open interest, which could act as a crucial support level. The Put-Call ratio (PCR) has decreased to 1.06, reflecting a shift in market sentiment, where selling in Call options has outpaced Put options, hinting at a bearish outlook.
Looking ahead, market participants will be closely monitoring these key levels as they prepare for trading on October 28. The prevailing uncertainty, as indicated by the India VIX, which remains elevated at 16.4, suggests that traders should exercise caution. A decisive movement above the identified resistance levels could signal a shift in momentum, while failure to do so may lead to further consolidation in the market.
