Sudeep Shah, Head of Technical and Derivatives Research at SBI Securities, has indicated that the Nifty 50 index is poised for a potential decline below the 23,600-23,500 range in the upcoming week. This assessment comes amid a challenging market environment, where the index has struggled to maintain upward momentum, particularly after breaking below its rising channel on daily charts.

Historically, the Nifty 50 has faced significant selling pressure, culminating in four consecutive weeks of negative performance. External factors, including geopolitical tensions and rising U.S. bond yields, have further dampened investor sentiment. Despite a minor recovery attempt after hitting the 23,786 mark, analysts view this rebound as technical rather than indicative of a trend reversal.

Shah emphasizes that the current technical setup favors bearish sentiment, with the Nifty trading below critical short and medium-term moving averages. The daily Relative Strength Index (RSI) is hovering around 40, suggesting a lack of bullish momentum, while the Average Directional Index (ADX) indicates a strengthening downward trend. Immediate support is identified at 23,750-23,700, with a breach potentially leading to further declines towards 23,500 and 23,300.

In terms of investment strategies, Shah recommends focusing on Yatharth Hospital and KPR Mill. Yatharth Hospital recently broke out of a consolidation range, supported by increased trading volumes, while KPR Mill is showing strong bullish momentum above key moving averages. Both stocks are positioned favorably for potential gains in the near term.

Looking ahead, the market's direction will largely depend on the Nifty's ability to sustain above critical support levels. Analysts suggest that unless the index can reclaim the 24,000-24,200 zone, the prevailing bearish bias is likely to continue, with further declines expected in the coming weeks.
