In the second quarter of the financial year 2026-27, Infosys expanded its workforce by 4,480 employees, bringing the total to 332,542 as of September 30, 2026. This marks an increase from the 328,062 employees recorded at the end of the previous quarter on June 30, 2026, highlighting a positive trend in hiring despite a cautious industry outlook.
Year-over-year comparisons reveal a modest net increase of 551 employees from September 2025, when the workforce stood at 331,991. The company's attrition rate in IT services has shown improvement, with the voluntary attrition rate dropping to 12.7%, down from 13% in the preceding quarter and 14.3% a year prior, indicating a stabilization in employee retention.
Of the total workforce reported, 314,508 are software professionals, reflecting a quarter-on-quarter increase of 4,469 from 310,039 in June 2026. The sales and support staff saw a slight rise, with numbers increasing from 18,023 to 18,034. Looking ahead, the headcount data provides insights into workforce dynamics, although it does not fully capture total hiring due to employee exits and other changes. As Infosys continues to navigate these challenges, the focus will remain on strategic hiring and retention strategies to sustain growth in a competitive landscape.
