Hyundai has officially launched the Bayon in India, setting the starting price at ₹10 lakh, ex-showroom. The launch comes after a few weeks of bookings, and the company has announced that deliveries will commence immediately. The Bayon is strategically positioned between Hyundai's Venue and Creta models, providing an alternative for customers awaiting the new-generation Creta, expected in 2027.
The design of the Bayon is characterized by its clean lines and modern aesthetics. It features a split headlamp design, with the primary LED lights integrated into the bumper and daytime running lights (DRLs) extending along the bonnet line. The vehicle's SUV-like stance is enhanced by a flat roofline, roof rails, and robust plastic cladding around the wheel arches. Measuring 4.2 meters in length, the Bayon is slightly shorter than the current Creta, making it a compact yet stylish option.
Inside, the Bayon boasts two 12.3-inch screens for infotainment and instrument display, set in a sleek curved binnacle reminiscent of the Venue. The cabin is designed for comfort, featuring soft-touch materials, a panoramic sunroof, dual-tone leatherette upholstery, and advanced features such as wireless charging and cooled front seats. Safety is prioritized with six airbags, Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), a tyre pressure monitoring system, and a 360-degree camera.
Under the hood, the Bayon is powered by a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, delivering 113bhp and 144Nm of torque, with a claimed fuel efficiency of 18.6 kmpl. Buyers can choose between a six-speed manual transmission or a continuously variable transmission (CVT). Notably, there are no turbo-petrol or diesel variants available at launch, although a CNG version is anticipated to be released in January 2027.
Looking ahead, Hyundai's introduction of the Bayon is expected to attract a diverse range of customers in India, particularly those seeking a stylish and feature-rich compact SUV. With immediate deliveries now available, the Bayon is poised to make a significant impact in the competitive automotive market.
