Kaizad Bharucha will resign from HDFC Bank on December 31, 2026.

Bharucha's tenure has been marked by significant contributions to the bank's growth and stability.
Kaizad Bharucha, the Deputy Managing Director of HDFC Bank, has formally requested to step down from his role, with his resignation set to take effect on December 31, 2026. This decision has been accepted by the bank's Board of Directors, which will forward the request to the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) for final regulatory approval. Bharucha's resignation comes just days before Anup Bagchi, a veteran from ICICI Group, assumes the position of Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer on October 27.
The decision to resign was thoroughly reviewed by both the Nomination and Remuneration Committee and the Board during their recent meetings. Following these discussions, the formal transition process has been initiated. The Board acknowledged Bharucha's three-decade legacy, highlighting his crucial role in establishing the bank's financial foundation and overall growth.
In a regulatory filing, HDFC Bank noted Bharucha's significant contributions to the institution, particularly in enhancing its balance-sheet strength, risk management standards, and core credit architecture. His leadership has been instrumental in navigating the bank through various financial cycles, overseeing wholesale banking, credit, and critical risk operations.
Bharucha is regarded as one of the key pillars of HDFC Bank, and his planned exit marks a significant leadership transition as the bank prepares for the upcoming year. The Board's recognition of his contributions underscores the impact he has had on the bank's trajectory and stability in the competitive banking sector.
Looking ahead, HDFC Bank will focus on ensuring a smooth transition as it adapts to the new leadership structure under Bagchi's guidance. The bank's strategic direction and operational priorities will likely evolve as it prepares for the future, with an emphasis on maintaining its strong market position and continuing to deliver value to its stakeholders.
