Products found to be sub-standard and misbranded.
Companies must submit action plans to rectify issues.
The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has imposed a ban on Everest Food Products Pvt Ltd and Laljee Godhoo from selling their hing powder due to sub-standard quality. The regulator discovered that the compounded asafoetida samples did not meet the required standards, with some showing an alcohol soluble extract of 0% instead of the minimum 5%.
In addition to the immediate prohibition, FSSAI has mandated both companies to submit action plans aimed at correcting the malpractice and ensuring compliance with the FSS Act, 2006. Failure to address these issues may lead to further regulatory actions against them.
