Bajaj General Insurance has announced the appointment of Deepak Reddy as its new CEO, set to take office on April 1, 2027, contingent upon approval from the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI). The company's board made this decision effective January 1, 2027, ensuring a smooth transition as the current managing director and CEO, Dr. Tapan Singhel, will continue in his role until the end of March 2027.

This leadership change comes in response to IRDAI's regulations limiting the tenure of managing directors and chief executives to a maximum of 15 years. Deepak Reddy brings a wealth of experience, having spent over three decades in the financial services sector. His career includes senior roles at Bajaj Finserv, American Express, Standard Chartered Bank, and MIRC Electronics, where he has demonstrated significant leadership capabilities.

During his tenure at Bajaj Finserv, Reddy was instrumental in developing and expanding various business segments. Most recently, he oversaw the rural, insurance, and gold loan divisions at Bajaj Finance. Additionally, he served as the first group head of human resources at Bajaj Finserv, blending business leadership with expertise in organizational development. Prior to joining Bajaj General Insurance, he was the CEO of Manappuram Finance.

Sanjiv Bajaj, chairman and managing director of Bajaj Finserv, praised Dr. Singhel for his pivotal role in the company's growth, transforming it from a joint venture to a fully owned subsidiary of Bajaj. He expressed confidence that Reddy would build on this foundation and explore new growth avenues as the Indian insurance market continues to evolve.

Dr. Singhel emphasized the company's commitment to understanding customer needs and providing tailored solutions rather than merely selling policies. He expressed optimism that Reddy's leadership would further enhance the company's customer-centric approach and support its mission. Bajaj General Insurance, established in 2001, offers a diverse range of insurance products, including motor, health, home, cyber, and rural insurance, as well as specialized business coverage.
